Targeted traffic is crucial for the success any online business. Classified ads website, though a service offering website still requires to know how to get targeted traffic. The money and income from a  classifieds website is dependent on the traffic you get from it. Nobody wants to put their goods and services on a website that has no visitors to see their ads.

There two classes of traffic you can use. The paid and the organic traffic.

When I started my classified ads website,  I struggled to get eyes on my beautiful website I have created. Until I discovered the truth I am going to be sharing on this post.

I started out advertising with search engines, paying for traffic. The best way of getting traffic is from free organic traffic. This can be hard to get for a new website.

How to get Free natural traffic.

Before you go out to source for traffic, is good you build out your website, have contents and some ads on the website.

Optimize your own Ads

Have your own ads on the website. Even if is an advert about the website. No one wants to come to a website without any activities.

Create rich blog post, on the website to have contents.  Share whatever you publish with your audience across all social media platforms.

Well-written niche articles can bring your free traffic from search engines and social networks if you share them. Visitors checking your articles may submit some ads.

Talk to Family And Friends

Ask your friends and family to submit advertisements on your brand new site and share them on their social networks. if you have family like mine that is not internet savvy, don’t worry you have other sources.

Your social media friends are your family. Yes they are. Start by sending  private chat to a handful of your social media friends. Been clear on the action you want them to take.

Decide the Niche for your Site

I have to mention if you choose a niche in which the competition is low, you can get traffic from search engine sooner than you think. A great niche can be place+keyword, such as Auto Spare Parts services in Lagos. This is just an example, you should make a detailed niche and keyword research before jumping into a niche.

Once, you have contents, you can start promoting your website in several ways.

Have Your Social Media Sites

Build out your social media pages, Google+, Twitter, Pinterest, Flipboard, Facebook and all other networks and connect them to your website. Here you should share useful content as well as the submitted ads.

If you do it right, you will have a lot of targeted followers who will check out your classified website frequently and share your posts to their friends. This can be a good source free traffic and has some positive impact on SEO as well.

Backlinks

Don’t make this a pirority, Concentrate on building rich contents on your website. To build backlinks to your website, you can comment on good quality websites, in your niche or taking part in forums which are relevant to your niche.

Don’t buy backlinks as you can be quickly penalized by Google Penguin.

Directory Submission

Submit a few articles into the best directories and press release sites, but guest blogging is even better. You can also build some links by submitting your links to niche directories, bookmarking sites and answering on Q&A websites.

 

Besides, if your articles, replies, comment, etc. are valuable, people will visit your site which means even more traffic. This is also the best way to build a brand.

Video marketing

Video marketing is another method you should consider. These days it is rather easy to create video and build a channel on Youtube or other video sharing sites. These sites have tons of visitors and your videos, with a link back to your classified website, can have a large exposure.

What about paid traffic?

Paid traffic is probably the simplest way to get traffic to your website. but this is dependant on your pocket. For a new venture to start spending money on advertising may take atoll.
